Link's Awakening is my favorite as time has gone on. No other Zelda has felt quite like a true adventure to me. Foreign land, unfamiliar faces and foes, lots of secrets, really creative items and dungeons, and the ability to break it all by becoming a THIEF.

I really,really enjoyed the Links Awakening remake on Switch. I was hoping the Oracle games were next to get remade but alas. I tried the Echoes of Wisdow game and not having any quick select for monsters to a button and the messy framerate really killed it for me.

I would argue the original Zelda is the best. It really paved the way for many, not just Zelda games but the path for many games in general

Im of the mind that theres no bad Zeldas. But theres a weird framing here. Like comparing the OG zelda to link to the past, Setting up the argument that Technological advances make a better game. Also me: Tears of the Kingdom is the best Zelda ever FIGHT ME!

I really tried to get into the DS ones but using the screen and stick to move and attack just did not click for me. Plus changing the tracks and the timing in Phantom Hourglass felt off to me. Probably just me though.

The plot of Tears of the Kingdom got lost in all the mechanics imo made me lose focus and then interest in this game. However the game also came out at a time when I had a lot going on, so I’m waiting for my second play through to really judge it.

OOT was the first so I cut it some slack but yeah it felt like they were fighting against the N64's limitations rather than using its strengths Majora's Mask and basically every later entry used their platforms features much better

Imo, Majora's Mask is the best Zelda. It had all the positives of OoT, with a much more lively world, more in depth side quests, better dungeons if fewer in number, the Masks are a really interesting and fun mechanic, and one of the best stories in the series.

I would like to keep in mind that, even in my own opinion, the margin for "best Zelda" is slim and flimsy. Imo, yes, it is MM. But, the margin between it and nearly any other game is so close, that i couldn't blame anyone for thinking any other Zelda is better.

Eh, I like all Zelda. I even enjoyed Skyward Sword, which apparently is a cardinal sin according to some people. OOT have that "oompf" of being the first 3D Zelda, in an era of transition. Being good also helped, sure, but the feeling of discovering what gaming was becoming was nice at the time.

Felt like that got in the way for me, and I think that is something older gamers were used to compared to younger ones who went back to experience it. They aren't calloused to it and it's a valid criticism to them, to me it's just how all games were back then.

If you want to compare features, LoZ:ToTK wins. If you want to compare story, LoZ:TP, LoZ:MM, or some of the Gameboy ones. If you want to compare world size/feeling of size probably LoZ:BotW. Like there's lots of ways to skin this cat.

TP is a solid top 3 Zelda games for me. But OoT is also part of that top 3 🤣 I love them for different reasons, but Midna is HANDS DOWN the best companion character in the series and it isn't even close.

For me the open world isn't even the problem It's the lack of a purpose to exploration really. You explore to get upgrade materials and better weapons (which still break too fast), that's basically it There are no dungeon items, at all, and it just makes dungeoneerIng less fun

Sadly I must disagree, the oracle of season was the best Zelda game.

Wind waker will always be my favorite gameplay while skyward sword is by far one of the best stories

I actually had a really nice second play through of it once. I think it might’ve been so much fun finding all the over world secrets that reached 20 hearts. And the lantern became useful again after I found dark caves around the perimeter of Lake Hylia. I even conquered the delving dungeon

I grew up on OoT, it was the first game I actually completed (used a guide for the water temple LIKE YOURE SUPPOSED TO). I never got a chance to play twilight princess, so I am heavily biased, but yeah, Ocarina of Time is my go to on this.

each generation can pick between about four to five zelda games which came out in their youth. mine are from the first zelda to majoras mask and i pick ocarina of time. i played twilight princess but it seemed to lack as much of an identity as the others before it. it was ok though

If I were to summarize my thoughts on the two: I think TP has the better written story & characterisation, but a weaker implementation of its mechanics throughout. OoT is more streamlined & better utilizes its mechanics, but fumbles with an oversimplified story.

I don't know that it's Twilight Princess, but it sure as hell isn't Ocarina. We can all look at Ocarina and acknowledge that it was an important game, and an outstanding first attempt at 3D, but that game has big, big issues. I think I'd honestly give it to LTTP at this moment.

I dunno! I really like all the spooky new designs for Majora's Mask and I like the drama of it TP feels like something of its time, which isn't bad but it was darker and edgier to fit in

I like seasons, ages, and majoras mask. isn't it wonderful how people can find joy in different things and not send death threats over which game in a series is their favourite. What an amazing world we live in.

Best Zelda doesn't exist. Its based on preference. I personally am a fan of A Link To The Past, Ocarina, Twilight Princess, Breath of the Wild, and Four Swords.

Twilight princess is one of my least favorite Zelda games, honestly a big part of that is the artstyle is so ugly, top three are mm ww and oot in that order

Just recently talked about how realism in games dooms them to become aged faster than those with a more artistic approach. That's why I feel games like Windwaker survive better than Twilight Princess. Windwaker still pops but the realism kinda dies when games get more realistic later.

I am being honest with myself, and this entire thread is a shining example of "wrong answers only". Zelda II or bust, folks!

I like Twilight Princess, but I always struggle starting a new file because the start is an incredibly slow burn. Climbing vines is also painfully slow. Combat is a little lackluster too seeing as the sword moves are treated as optional, so nothing really pushes you to use em. Midna good though.

Definitely love Twilight Princess on the Wii. OoT 2nd favorite and Zelda 2 at 3rd favorite. Yeah you heard me.

I haven't played it yet so I can't make a fair comparison. Neither have I played Ocarina of Time yet besides briefly playing the 3D port on a friend's console
