Errol Southers taking questions from the Los Angeles City Council Public Safety Committee, who will vote on a mayor’s report to reappoint Southers until 2030. As Southers speaks, occasionally he’s accusing others near him of disrupting him. Signs against his reappointment are being held near him.

As Southers was speaking, he looked at city hall gadfly Wayne Spindler and asked if he was threatening him. I didn’t hear what Spindler said (or if he said anything at all). Spindler being led out by LAPD of the meeting.

City Councilmember Soto-Martinez is asking Southers questions regarding precious writing on extremism. There are accusations he wrote “signs of Muslimness and identification with Palestinians as potential characteristics” in his book according to Mondoweiss. mondoweiss.net/2024/04/meet...

Vote is 4-1 to approve recommendation to reappoint Southers to the LAPD commission. Soto-Martinez is the lone vote against. As the vote is read off, Southers is expected escorted by LAPD to a back entrance. Audience members shouting disapproval are being led out by LAPD.

The LA Council public safety committee meeting’s over. As City council members begin to make their leave, LAPD informs them that “BLM is outside,” and tells them to leave the back way. I’d say there’s maybe 10 people outside, making videos. Mostly members of BLM-LA and Stop LAPD Spying.
