I would have agreed with that if some of those "non-traditional" medicinal medicines didn't have thousands of years to back it up and prove that it works. Just look at china with over 5,000 years of documented research & evidence backing there medicinal medicines 🤷🏽‍♂️

We have lots of research on individual aspects of what is called traditional Chinese medicine. Most of the herbs either do nothing or served to create more effective medications. Acupuncture and cupping haven't shown more success than placebo. 5000 years of use is not the same as effectiveness.

But aren't medicines derived from herbs??

China didn’t even start keeping records until about 1,600 BC and Chinese medicine evolved quite a bit. modern “traditional Chinese medicine“ didn’t really take off until the 1960s during the Cultural Revolution. Not dissing the tradition, but much more research is needed.

That's funny but show me statistics and number 😂 because there economy, doctors, medical center (which fun fact is all based off the thousands of years of medicinal medicine knowledge, setting it as the foundation before including modern medicine) still all seem to be among the best in the world 🙄

Show me the science. If the science supports it, so will I. If you have no evidence but the traditions of ignorant people, you have nothing.

Typical response 😂 and just cause science doesn't back it up DOES NOT MEAN IT DOESN'T EXIST OR HELP there is a lot of things famously laughed at because of "science" and it couldn't be proven just for it later down the line to be proven 😂🤷🏽‍♂️... just look at isaac Newton and his theory of gravity 👀

I don't know why I am even engaging with this, but science is the best answer we have to any given subject right now. If you think you know better than the only system that systematically looks for the best answers, then good luck with that. There are plenty of grifters lined up to take your money.

I would also like to add that we have real life evidence china is ONE OF THE MOST HEALTHY!!! Country in the world and is the less prone to sickness - might I add live the longest in the world for something that doesn't work while you have america which is science based and one of the unhealthiest 😂

China is not, in general, a healthier place to be. But even if it were, it is easily shown by their statistics that urban populations with better access to modern medicine have longer life expectancies.

The fact of the matter is that my statement still stands 🤷🏽‍♂️ we have statics, facts, and thousands of years of writen record of medicinal medicines working because you act as if modern science has always been around (fun fact it was not) and people say religious folks are the ones radical/unaccepting

If it has value, someone will do the science to investigate it. Tell you what, you stick to the traditional "medicine" and I will stick to modern medicine, and we will see who has the best outcomes. Of course, ignorant people favoring politicians who want to kill us may impact that.

Umm, deflect much 😂 but anyway I never stated that modern medicine is not needed because just like all things it improves overtime but I was just combating your statement saying "medicinal medicines are useless" because they do work with and entire country w/ almost 2 billion people proving it does

And by the way Newton's theories were spectacularly successful and enabled all our progress up the point that as a species we were able to consider more data (that Newton made possible) using math (that Newton devised). And his work is STILL enormously useful.

Yeah, science is like that. If I devise a theory it will not be accepted until people have time to read it, consider it, and perform experiments to support or disprove it. The beauty of science is that it allows accepted truths to change as we gather more information.

It's not a religion. It's a system to discover the truth with no truths being taken on faith or held sacred. Religion inherently limits understanding by favoring belief over knowledge.

Acupuncture relies on placebo effect. A lot of people get over diseases, and most pre-modern human cultures had a 50% mortality rate before age five. Chinese diets for the better off might have been better for health. The Chinese didn't invent vaccination.

But the point in me pointing it out is that they still use medicinal medicine as the foundation of there health systems, while mixing is modern medicine 🤷🏽‍♂️. They also have a culture of dieting because that's apart of medicinal medicince as well - let's not forget they have some of the best healthcare

Mao in his dotage tried to get people to accept acupuncture as anesthesia. It didn't work. All reasonable nations have public health care, some are better than others. Depends on their resources and money.

They're generally called Traditional Medicine if you're talking about things people swallow. A lot of cultures have them, and some of the are mildly poisonous to more than mildly poisonous. And some of them are mild stimulants or alcoholic.

A lot of anyone's traditional medicine had some messed up things about it. And some things did work -- Some Africans cultures vaccinated for small pox. And one African herb is a useful anti-depressant. Some Welsh herbal cures were caused worse health, per a British trained nurse.

You say "placebo effect" as if that is suppose to change the fact that it works 🤔... might I add let's not forget its the mind that controls the body not the other way around, which has extensive research to back it up. With that being said if you body says your sick, then what will happen??

Basically does not work on infections. Works on the same things that other placebo effects also work on. Mind is the brain and it is part of the body and extends to the fingertips.

We cannot act like if you brain "perceives" your body as sick then your body won't start becoming sick. We have plenty of research on these "anomalies" with one of the most famous ones being "phantom pregnancies"

Non-human animals also have phantom pregnancies and asthma was considered a psychosomatic problem when I was a child. We have plenty of research on the comparable infant and maternal mortality rates for white women and black women too. And women's heart attacks.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Traditi... China had a whole lot of book burning, inter-regional wars, and periods of being ruled by the Mongols or the Manchus. And the British. And the Portuguese. And US missionaries backed by gun boats. And the Japanese. It wasn't 4,000 years of an unbroken culture.

Needham pointed out in his volumes on Chinese technology and science was a disconnect in Chinese cultures between workmen and scholars. Also, China as a territory didn't have 4,000 years of continuous unbroken culture. It had as many disruptions as the western end of Eurasia, if not more.
