Not that we in the library wish to encourage profanity, but if you want to get rid of these AI-search summaries (which are often absolute nonsense), just swear in your search terms. It really works.

That's brilliant! Should I add profanity to my manuscripts too, hoping AI won't canibalise them? Who knew LLMs could be so prude!

make a deal with you get your university's PR dept to put a link to the paper, when the PR dept issues a press release about some research honestly, there are PR depts that don't include a link, or include a text DOI or, if the study is embargoed/not released, explicitly say so !!

I'm fairly sure just putting -AI at end has been helping me get classic results. I don't want my mum to bring out the swear box again especially since bloody was not permissible for a long time so anything stronger is very much tutted at.

there's also a little trick with the url that can get rid of the AI result! ive made my default search engine google with the modified url, so no AI result! arstechnica.com/gadgets/2024...

(The interesting thing is that *where* you put the swearword influences the results, for reasons even we - information professionals and absolute legends - don't really understand.)

If you use this custom string as your search engine in Chrome settings, you get classic search results without the "AI" summary. "https://www.google.com/search?q=%s&udm=14"
