The black kitty I had in mind, the one with whom the other two weren't playing, was a male. Maybe that's why, although adorable, he was left to his own devices. Thank you for forcing me to think a bit... 🤔

Also, a moment in time is just that, and not a frame for Life. Cats tend to play in pairs, not groups. It likely just wasn’t his turn when you saw them, or had just recently been his turn…
