It is vital that nonvoters from the past take the time to learn the issues, make a plan, and show up to vote! No more “sitting this one out.” Dems must vote. Independents and non-affiliated must vote. We must break out of the voting inertia!

Agreed, but it's not just nonvoters from the past, it's sexism too. In 2024 85.9 million eligible voters didn't vote AT ALL. That's MORE than the 76.8 million cast for Trump, and the 74.3 million cast for Harris.

People didn’t vote in 2024 for 85.9 million individual reasons, from sexism to lack of transportation to apathy. As a nation, we have to fix that so everyone feels like their vote matters.

Nonsense. How's that fit into Hillary Clinton losing in 2016, Joe Biden winning in 2020, and Kamala Harris losing in 2024? I don't know 'bout you, but I'm seeing a pattern here. (Personally, I voted for Clinton, Biden, and Harris.) I'm not going to discuss this any further, but best wishes.

This is a microcosm of what dems are doing nationwide. Circling the wagons and then firing inward. I didn’t disagree with sexism as a cause, I just said, yes and. Have a nice day.

I know, let's give everyone a day off on election day, so they can vote. And, BTW, completely and severely crush attempts at voter suppression of any kind.

Let’s give it a try! I’m concerned that not everyone can have the day off (first responders, for example), so I’d be willing to try an election week! Maybe one that includes the weekend days when many people with traditional hours are off.

In Colorado, you get your mail-in ballot in the mail and have almost a month to return it by mail, put it in a secure drop-off box or deliver it to your polling place, many of which are open for two weeks and where you can also vote in person. That's what access to the right to vote looks like.

Well, voting methodology is left up to the states; So part of it is what state one chooses to live in. Washington State has been 100% vote by mail since 2011. I drop my ballot off at the post office on the way to do some grocery shopping, and then track it online until it's counted. Easy peazy.

Same in Colorado. Not the same in Mississippi. Is that equal access to the right to vote? State's rights of not, some things need fixing.

Well again, the way things are currently set up, that's left up to the states. Admittedly we have a president whom I most certainly didn't vote for who's basically bypassing Congress and doing everything by executive order, but how do you propose that gets fixed?

As to the creation of the regime, the right wing spent the last 70 years laying the groundwork for the destruction of American government. I'm not sure what is the proper response to that, but I have a thought about what the response will be. proper or not.

I'm not following you. Abraham Lincoln was a Republican. Dwight Eisenhower I'd say was the last decent one. Reagan started the tax breaks for the wealthy thing that didn't work then & most CERTAINLY doesn't work now. But what we've got now is a completely NEW can of worms; Essentially A Dicktator.

I agree with all that, but you asked what to do about it. If you want a history lesson, I suggest following Heather Cox Richardson, a brilliant political historian.

I don't want a history lesson, I was asking you how you think all states could be made to make voting as easy as it is here in Washington State.

The states are not empowered to deny the right to vote, as the 14th amendment and decisions based upon it have made clear for 100 years. So let's enforce that again, which unfortunately is reliant upon an Extreme Court with a racist agenda.

It declares that all persons born or naturalized in the United States are citizens, and prohibits states from infringing upon the privileges or immunities of citizens, depriving them of life, liberty, or property without due process, or denying them equal protection under the law.

It's a violation of the equal protection clause for some states to suppress your right to vote. What part of that do you not get?

The Fourteenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, ratified in 1868, is a landmark piece of legislation addressing citizenship, due process, and equal protection.
