Fortunately I made my usual big crockpot full of homemade vegetable soup last night, so I'm fed for the weekend. My best friend/housemate who always fixes all the things is on his way home to look at it, but IDK if it's salvageable. He fixed that oven a couple of times before it died completely.

We just lost our circa 1987 GE fridge last week. Our new one MIGHT arrive in 6 weeks.

Six weeks for a fridge?! Doesn't Best Buy deliver where you live? IDK how I'd make it six weeks without a fridge in the middle of summer.

Six weeks has become almost normative. Such a bummer.

I’m so sorry, for loss AND unnerving announcement. We’re down to one burner; two vendors I’ve tried to replace ours have taken one look at kitchen design + basically fired us as buyer/client. Induction/regular plug-in burners can carry you affordably thru till you can deal w/ replacement.

Update: My friend worked his magic and our ancient stove is clean, shiny and working great! TBH, I was fully expecting to be shopping for a new one, but I should've known. He's fixed so many things in this house, from appliances to the roof and the plumbing, as well as restoring my hardwood floors.

Good news. We're having fun with a leaking sliding door in living room. About 1 sf of OSB subfloor has got wet and sank, cabinet almost fell over.

Glad it’s fixed. The beauty of older appliances is that they’re non-computerized and easier to fix.

I’ve gotta know. What color is it. My child hood 60’s kitchen had turquoise appliances. lol Mom making thanksgiving dinner with a cigarette in her hand.

Had a similar experience. Ended up using a single induction burner and countertop oven for almost 10 years before breaking down and getting a new one. Oh, and can't forget my air fryer.
