Cuomo just couldn't be fucked, presumably. certainly he's given every indication he's far too good to actually mingle with any of his would-be constituents (who can't afford dinner in the Hamptons, anyway)

That is an interesting point; I actually think if they tried to bring him up on charges again they would have trouble indicting him.

But even the attempt would be not great this close to the election, especially if they drag it out before it gets dismissed. Remember that people in Trump world rarely get *actual* punishments, so they consider investigations and charges to be punishments (and evidence of guilt) in their own right.
