Personally I would have thought we would want the best & brightest minds regardless of background-we could end up with a Reform party issue. People in jobs they have no idea how to do

I’ve seen plenty of utterly useless civil servants who are only there because they went to the right school. The idea that our current system actually appoints on merit is only put forward by those who don’t know it or those who have a vested interest in maintaining it.
