KOF itself has had Ryo and King flirt with each other in intros over the years. The first real flirt in their intros was in KOF 98. Then King bowed respectfully for a few games... and in XI she makes Ryo blush in the intro. And then there's the 2000 ending... which caught me completely off guard.

That said I'm pretty sure the "Ryo likes King" subplot is only in the KOF series. The future shown in Garou has not mentioned King at all, AFAIK.

Is the implication here that Takuma is assuming King will marry his son? And it will be interesting to see how the new wave of SNK sequels irons out the time discrepancies between Fatal Fury and Art of Fighting. I assume they’ll be aligned so that they square up better with King of Fighters.

My understanding is he thinks both are a couple. But Takuma's always been portrayed as a bit of a idiot in KOF, the entire team has been written as jokey starting with 96.

Certain versions of the character are 100% supposed to look like Cynthia Rothrock. I think in one of the martial law movoes where she goes undercover working at a bar, Cynthia character has the same hairdo and get up

That would make sense. I am not super familiar with her movies but in writing this I was looking at her face and trying to decide if King looked like her. I didn’t see it, but will keep researching.

She has always been one of my favourites and still is one of my mains. And yes, I did watch and love the 80's film "one of the guys, why do you ask"
