Currently house shopping in LA. My wife and I make a combined $300K a year and we essentially can only afford townhomes about 30 miles from where we work, with family help for the down-payment.

California has become a playground for multi-millionaires, it's not for the working class. You could live in a real house in Oregon, without shared walls.
I don't want to live in Oregon, for several reasons. First, both my and my wife's job is here. I work in the entertainment industry, so if I moved to Oregon, I would likely take a pay cut & be out of work. Second, my support system is here. Lastly I personally do not like the weather in Oregon.
nothing left to do but go for a hot hike through the burnt hills and get some tacos in LA, please post taco pics
