When we took The Kid to France a few years ago, we did the Centre Pompideu, which is not my cuppa, because I don't love modern art, but! The kid loves history! So we went around explaining how you can see in THIS work the reaction to THIS war, etc etc etc.

Sorry, sorry. I CANNOT HELP MYSELF! I love art! And I love the history in which the art was created!!! When we went to the Louvre, we went early, RAN to the Mona Lisa at top speed so we wouldn't have to wait in line (we were like 15th there?) but as we were going by, I kept shouting...

And I didn't even get him into the Musee d'Orsee! Alas! Anyway, my point was it's a lot of fun to admire art like, lookit their faces! but it's also a lot of fun* to be like, the historical context of this says WHAT? *for me, I cannot literally get it to stop, apologies!
