Retirement from something that has been integral to your life for so long requires a lot of courage. My hat is off to Congressman Nadler. Thank you for your leadership & service. And, thank you for your courage to make way for new leadership.
Arguably, the thing George Washington is best known and loved for is knowing when to step aside. It’s a critically important thing for a democracy and kudos to @nadler.house.gov for doing the right thing here.
Next role: starring as a variant of MODOK in the MCU multiverse saga.
He's been one of the good ones, but it's time for the party leadership to pass the torch. Hopefully this will help get that message through to those who needed to hear it more than he did.
Thank you for your year's of service (and intervening with the State Department when they were giving me the runaround to get my first Passport), and goodbye
Congress should not be a longterm employment situation. I don’t care how effective you are! Term limits now, please!
Great news
Terrific, enjoy your retirement and pass the baton 💯💯💯‼️
“Representative Jerrold Nadler, a New York Democrat who has been one of Congress’s leading neoliberal voices . . .” Fixed it.
Gerontocracy doesn't work
He's a solid guy, I wish him well in retirement. Hopefully his successor will be a Democrat and not a "Democrat" (Republican).
Good.
He shouldn't have the option!!!!! He will be long dead before any consequences of his decisions manifest.
I applaud @nadler.house.gov for his leadership and service in the #USCongress.
As the illusion that we ever had a Democracy in the last 40 years is fading away to hard cold reality of the current dictatorship, we can’t blame him from stepping out
Good
For everything, there is a season... -ONE.💯
At first, as I started reading this, I thought: "Welp. Another Dem died in office long after they should have retired."
He gets it. I guess.
he was almost surely gonna be mamdani’d
Doubt it - he was the first national Dem to endorse Mamdani
He was in no danger
Were you born this fucking stupid? Nadler has never been seriously challenged. Mamdani is not a serious person, and he will be the most ineffectual Mayor New York has ever had. If he wins.
I strongly suggest you do some reading up on Nadler
have been NYC resident since ‘80’s sometimes in Nadler’s district 😉👍🏼
And you think Nadler's equivalent to Adams or Cuomo? Seriously?
never said that did say if he ran again he would likely be defeated in a D primary by a younger, more skilled democrat like @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social defeated Adams & Cuomo capisci?
"A more skilled democrat" then Jerry fuckin' Nadler. OK
And may be be followed by many more
"Did someone Say Genocide? I Love Genocide!"
Jerrold Nadler has Secured Victory for Israel in the War that is not a War, Crushed Anti~Zionist Dissent on Campuses across America and Secured even More Power for AIPAC and the Zionists over his 17 Terms in Congress. I think he his hearing the Drum Beats, not "Heeding The Call" #GenocidalZionists
Retaliation is not genocide. Buy a dictionary, stupid.
Retaliation is not a scorched earth campaign targeting civilian centers, holy sites, and other protected spaces. You'd better not complain when someone squats in your living room and decides the whole house is theirs.
You will never get through to that Genocidal Zionist but thanks for trying.
That's what the Palestinians have been trying to do since 1948. They could have had half in 1947, and both sides would now be far better off. But, no, they chose to be assholes. They still make that choice, every day.
Nobody asked them if an entire country could be their abusive roommates. Palestine was there first. I bet you're a manifest destiny apologist too.
Yeah, Israel offered the Palestinians the half that is a Desert and wanted to make Jerusalem the Capital. That guy had a deep Childhood indoctrination into the Cult of Zionism, he will Lie, Deny and Twatwaffle till the Hounds come home.

Good trouble.
"Did someone Say Genocide? I Love Genocide!"
OMG THANK FUCK OUT THE OLDS
I love that he stayed in office juuuust long enough to drive Carolyn Maloney into retirement. No one fights a grudge match like a New Yorker.
78 year old could have retired 16 years ago, 11 years ago with full social security benefits...get the fuck out
I see blue maga wants to swarm this. Congrats on learning nothing guys
Thank whatever diety works for you.
They should have term limits and then a mentorship program afterwards.
Rep Nadler, from the bottom of my heart I thank you. I have always admired your service. Your humility sets you apart and above most of your colleagues. History will be kind to you.
I’m not only thankful for Nadler’s service, I’m grateful that he’s retiring now !!! Well done, sir
About time. You're next @schumer.senate.gov.
THIRTY YEARS!!! No one should turn serving in Congress into a fucking career
like bernie?
His constituents kept voting for him. So not your issue if you're not one of them. 🤷♀️
Bernie needs to go.
Anyone past retirement age needs to go. The last thing we need running this country is people with limited future stake in it. They should be spending their sunset years with loved ones and families.
You don't set the terms. The voters do. Now, do the work to beat the candidates.
Well in that case the voters have been putting Bernie into office so he's gonna stick around there until someone beats him, he retires, or whatever. They set the terms, right?
why not?
Why not? Especially when they’re a good congressman, voters obviously want them in office.
Generational change will be a good thing. Right now we need loud, assertive voices because the political scene has vastly changed. However, I do thank Rep Nadler for his years of dedicated commitment to our country.
So far two of the eight replies are shitting on him for being in politics this long. My bet is it will grow.
