It's interesting, Minnesota has the Democratic Farmer Labor party and I wouldn't think farming would be that different in Iowa - BUT you're right, over 50% of IA farmland is owned by non farmers so lease holders / corps. In MN, almost 90% is owned by farmers themselves. That explains a lot!
