I see your nickels cost less than face value to manufacture, our US nickels cost 14 cents each. 🫣 Did Canada have to produce a larger number of nickels after the penny bid you adieu?

I remember driving by a gigantic nickel 20+ feet tall, while driving through the provinces. They have lots of nickel mines. Their 'loonies' (coins) are doing OK there but our US dollar coins are a flop. You can buy them from the US mint for a bit over face value and they are legal tender.

I think I have some Canadian pennies from way back when...so am I rich now??

I found three dimes on my dresser yesterday. I save loonies and toonies for street people — but dimes? What’s the point of dimes? And so tiny and hard to get a grip on at a traffic stop. I just left them somewhere visible where some1 could make better use of them.

Surprisingly, that's unclear. Statute prevents him from changing the value of a penny or its composition but the number of pennies produced per year is at the discretion of the Mint under the Department of Treasury. It's rare that Trump does something legal but this might be a time he is.

It’s hard to tell now sadly. I saw an artist epoxy thousands of pennies to the floor in like a penny mosaic. It looked amazing.
