What happens when it’s family tree presentation day, do a bunch of kids leave the classroom when my daughter presents her family tree? Every time she recaps her weekend? If she wants to read her favorite book (My Moms Love Me) in class?

Good questions.
At least you know which parents you don’t want to be friends with.
Absolute disaster
A little more chaos every day.
"Equal Protection" means...nothing, apparently.
Do WWII studies skip mention of the breaking of the Enigma code since it could slip out that math genius Alan Turling was gay (and later jailed for it)?
What is the definition of religious parents? Bigoted or racist.
So now we are just making laws out of religion in direct opposition to the First Amendment of the United States Constitution.
Sadly, what is likely to happen is that family tree projects will be replaced with something else the prevents a teacher from finding themselves in the crosshairs of easily outraged parents.
They can opt out of society if the world bothers them so much
Also, Supreme Court rules that religious kids get "A"s on all tests.
Exactly, however schools will need to notify parents of curriculum but I don’t think discussions of the news or other things are covered but it will most likely lead to that. Ugh!
Right up there with opting out of sex education. This should not surprise anyone.
Do the teachers have to notify every kids parents in her class that she has two moms and it will come up organically in conversation almost every day?
And not for nothing, ignoring that LGBTQ people exist violates MY religious beliefs
Yes, co-creation with the divine of our lives, world, and ongoing creation is central to my faith.
And co-creation of our bodies, too.
If religious parents can opt out, non religious parents can opt their children out of religious teachings in public schools. They can opt them out of the classrooms with the 10 commandments It works both ways.
They’ll just cancel “family tree” day. And history. And replace them with Noah and his boat. (Never explaining how Noah and his family begat everyone on earth.)
But by extension, all non religious parents should be able to opt out of lessons and books referring to any religious content, right? I know it's not legally reciprocal, but more of a thought exercise.
I like this take, but also, stop it with family tree day. It's awful for the kids who have to say "don't know" for their father (or have any "don't knows."
Can kids in Texas now opt out of classrooms with the 10 commandments displayed for religious reasons?
A complete disaster. Our Supreme Court is a travesty of justice. Fucking clowns.
The books in question include LBGTQ+ individuals, which reflects the actual world in which LBGTQ+ individuals exist. So, is the religious objection to the existence of LBGTQ+ individuals? If it is, that is a big problem and needs to be addressed by our educational system.
🤮🤮🤮🤮
I'm going to opt my kid out of listening to other kids talk about their hetero families.
Can parents opt their children out of Public School classrooms that have the Ten Commandments hanging?
Or what happens in bring your dad to school day and you want to bring both of them. This is telling kids that your two dads don't count as a family. I really can't stand religious people.
It sucks
My spiritual path I recognize all my ancestors. Many of my ancestors understood that being LGBTQ+ is one's Prakriti, a Sanskrit word meaning nature and energy. I'm transgender, that's my nature from the beginning that can't be changed. My ancestors also understood that denying or preventing one from
living according to their nature does great harm to the individual and to society as a whole. It is important for all children to have the understanding that cisgender is not the only nature. Religion's need to stop embracing willful ignorance, its harmful to society and prevents a peaceful society.
Imagine already being the not-so-cool kid and having to leave class because Mommy's crazy.
“Religious” parents?
