One would do well to remember that covid vaccine uptake peaked at about 70%, leaving a plenty large enough pool of unvaxed for the virus to burn through. It raged in Florida after the jab was available, killing Republicans at a rate of about three to one over Democrats.

So many unvaxed and unmasked Republicans died in the second year of the pandemic in Florida that the state did not register a drop in excess deaths from the first year. They then co-opted those data, through asshole Surgeon General Ladapo, to falsely claim that the Jab doesn't work.
