Sure, it has to be done a certain way, with non-profit(s) agreeing, before going into the CM’s legislation. But the teaser made it sound like she wanted the $ for herself. That doesn’t seem to be the case.

She just wanted it for something she was interested in. There is no other part of metro government where this is even remotely tolerated but for some reason it’s fine when it’s zoning.

Ah yes, and this was done with zero amounts of contingencies around land use or zoning discussions.
The initial offers in the "CBA" were enticing to a beleaguered District 1, and also super ambiguous - like giving 150k over some years to a yet-to-be formed community 501c3 to spend on whatever. Sounds ok on a white board, but details matter(ed). It was sensationalist for NC5 to frame it like that.
We don’t know who she wanted the money for, quite frankly. If she had total control over where it went, there’s any number of ways she could use that for self-enrichment. This is ethical folks don’t operate like this.
Agreed. We don’t know. And she wouldn’t have total control of the legislation and the word “control” is coming from her accuser’s characterization. The Ethics Commission will have to sort through the “he said she said” and reach a conclusion outside of the sensationalism of a local news story.
How many rezoning proposals never make it to the entire council because the cm doesn’t want to carry it? How many rezoning bills have been approved without the district council members approval?
Well...and this may be one factor in why Planning us taking a harder stance on SPs vs straight zonings lately.

Assuming they take it.
It wouldn’t have had to be in the legislation, but certainly it doesn’t help her case that her response was “he’s a cry baby” lol
I am constantly amazed at developers walking into these things without doing any basic research into the people they are dealing with.
