being accused of "hating rich people" after saying in a conversation about if a dept that doesnt fund its grad students is a red flag or not that a dept that doesnt fund its grad students is making a statement about the kind of people wanted in the dept and it's not normal people
like im a product of public schools and obvi im super fortunate my parents could cover undergrad (with me getting scholarships including one that covered my entire final year) at the least expensive state school i applied to. but im only able to be in grad school at all because im fully-funded!
if you dont fund grad students, you're saying "we only want people from money in our department!" and i dont feel it's wrong to say that
