The 2nd Amendment changed the Constitution. It can be Amended. In essence, an amendment provides a mechanism for legal texts to change over time without having to be entirely replaced, allowing them to adapt to new information, conditions, and societal standards.

A constitutional amendment is the required 1st step. there is nothing else 'common sense' that can be done before a new amendment.

Yep. It was also made a long time ago, when guns were less advanced, and as such, less hazardous.

During the period the U.S. Constitution and Second Amendment were drafted, the most common firearm was the smoothbore, flintlock muzzle-loading musket, a slow, single-shot weapon favored by armies.

I'm curious, what do you think is less dangerous about being hit by a .50 caliber bullet over a .223 caliber bullet? Do you know that the 1st automatic weapons were made and sold, although few bought them, in about 1740? 50 years before our Constitution was signed?

.50 is sniper round .223 is for small animals. When a weapon came into existence is not relevant to my conversation. I personally care about stopping children from being murdered like every country has done. The word amendment literally means change. That is the point I was making.

I agree with your post, and categorically say that yes, the constitution can be amended. I am addressing the other person who seems to not understand that the muskets of 1800 AD were not 'less hazardous' than a modern weapon.

A .50 is what a musket was in chambered in 1800. the 'small animal round' .223 is what an AR typically fires.

It was, but Americans have not done that all year, so I doubt they would if they kept these weapons. That being said, we should not ban the more powerful weapons. Proper restrictions will be more effective and useful.
