Goodness knows the “just entertainment” claim has gotten multiple Fox News personalities out of having to pay judgments for telling lies.
The question is how can they go after either? It's free speech whether it's entertainment or news. If it's untrue the remedy is available in the courts.
I trust you've seen what had been done to Columbia, Harvard, etc. along with The Late Show with Steve Colbert. It seems that even though the First Amendment says we have "free speech," there's nothing stopping this administration from doing if they feel slighted.
Can you imagine if a Democratic president attacked Fox News? I remember Obama once mildly criticized them, and the rest of the media instantly converged to call it an attack on the first amendment.
