well on the one hand it's bad for democracy and social cohesion that Keir Starmer is trying to appeal to the racists by pretending to be one of them, but on the other hand it's not actually working and the racists still don't want to vote for him

Should we do some kind of rota system for the Government's Coms? I just can't help thinking pretty much anyone would do a better job.
Starmer is a spineless perfidious oxygen thief. Human-toad farage’s supine lapdog. Total disgrace. 👎
I’m not sure any more that he’s pretending.
He is so dumb.
Keep talking to people on trains!!!
what do you mean by "pretending"? 😭
What makes you think he's pretending?
Hmm, sounds like the worst of *both* worlds.
Someone should ask him if abandoning your core audience to chase people who would never vote for you is such a good idea, why did Kamala lose?
I dont think the idiot understands that yet, but thats fine, he wont get the racist vote and he'll lose the progressive vote at the same time.
I suspect that he considers the racism and transphobia and such to be the primary objective, making him a sincere monster
Live footage from the new Cabinet:
At what point do we have to concede that he is not pretending
Something about never wrestling with pigs springs to mind
Which was also eminently predictable to anyone with a brain cell.
Is there anyone left other than Skeer and his boyz who think this plan is going to work?
I just listened to the full interview on #BBCSounds www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/... And no, he doesn't pretend to be one of them.
At some point we're going to have to ask whether this idiotic political strategy, that obviously isn't working, and which is being persisted with for reasons no-one can really explain, is actually just Starmer and his faction of the Labour Party being who they are and doing what they want to do
Oh it absolutely is. I had him pegged for Tory Lite from the start. I didn't realise he was actually Tory heavy.
Just a few more fleas to shake off
I feel like our last 6 prime ministerships at least have been extremely specific morality tales. There has to be a cheaper way of doing this
What’s the electoral chances of a party that makes themselves appealable to no one?
If Thatcher's biggest political victory is Tony Blair. Farage's must be Keir Starmer at this point.
The problem becomes that the normal people don't either. Which leads to fragmentation of sound minds into a million different factions that can't win elections. Democracy is dead.
Searching for the qualitative difference between pretending to be racist in order to curry favour with genuinely racist voters and being a bona fide racialist yourself.
And that, in a nutshell, is the paradox Starmer seems unable to grasp. I’m appalled at what’s going on. After lending my vote to make sure the Tories lost power (deservedly), I wish I’d stuck to my principles than lend it to Labour. Just awful racist chasing. I hope there’s positive change soon.
I am genuinely starting to wonder if he *is* one of them. What other reason is there for he doing it? He’s not actually stupid They could not be any clearer that they’re never, ever EVER gonna vote for him
The good news, is that Morgan McSweeney's genius is unquestionable.
Of course. Which is why he's not been shuffled out. If anything, it looks as if his team has been strengthened.
His "country of strangers" speech was dismissed as an unfortunate mistake. They can't try the same back-pedal this time.
He said it was a mistake because it didn’t go down well with opinion polls, not because it was an unpleasant and xenophobic remark in the first place.
He spent 18 months running a genocidal Netanyahu, that is kind of racist.
And whenever the new polls come out he sits in his office crying that the racists don't accept him as one of theirs.
And Labour are the only ones who can’t see it. Unless they’re getting polling that says “yep, everyone in Britain is a racist…”
Apart from anything else, it's so astonishingly self-destructive, what is he thinking?!
im really hoping for a hollywood style villain come-uppance.
Why do you think he's pretending? If it honks like a goose, and steps like a goose, it's a racist
He isn’t pretending to be one of them. Stop with the ridiculous hyperbole.
So you're saying he IS one of them?
I believe all this is who he is his choice of candidates and aides proves this.
There really is no discernable difference between a racist and someone pretending to be a racist, regardless of the reason. Actions speak louder than personal beliefs.
Marie, like many on here, just cannot accept the obvious, because to do so would require acknowledging a bunch of uncomfortable truths... bsky.app/profile/bedf...
Reform are saying the exact same things that the NF said in my area when I was growing up. Trying to meet this halfway is like offering an arsonist the chance to only use 1/4 of his petrol
I'm shocked that the people who wouldn't urinate on the Prime Minister if he was set ablaze are unfazed by his attempts at courting them
It’s a Moron McWeenie masterplan. Don’t worry folks, it will become clear soon… Soon… Soon… Oh fuck it’s 2029 and Reform have won.
And in doing so he's driving more progressive voters away from Labour. Whoever is advising him must be moonlighting for the opposition
Progressive voters? Middle class academics, so called academics and thespians who cannot accept the results of a democratic referendum. What's progressive about that?
You utter clown
The thugs who did this in St Mary Cray, Bromley, won't be voting Starmer. They love flags and put them up on every lamp post. The Police like Starmer also say it's totally fine.
@torstenbell.bsky.social bing bong, pass it on...
Difficult to conceive of a more perfect plan to Brewsters Millions away a 170-odd majority, if that is indeed the goal here then fair play
I'm not criticising you, but Starmer... This has been clear for years. The Tories tried being Reform, and it failed. Tories either voted for real Reform, or the LibDems. What on earth is Starmer playing at? I predict it will work out well for The Greens, and the LibDems (again).
