For sure, but that was after they spent a while struggling with the consequences of doing it (and in that case it was a violent despot). Man that show truly was a work of fiction.

The Diplomat is much more accurate, unapologetically displaying the vile, mercenary, imperialist policies of neoliberalism. It was really good but I can't finish it (& I LOVE Janney & Sewell) b/c it's so (accurately) Machiavellian. I reckon the actual White House is more House of Cards than WW.

Faslane is the ONLY European Nuclear Naval base that the US has access to. If Scotland becomes independent, it will shut down Faslane. The US will never allow that to happen. I know the Scots history w/ the English very well.

I still love the writing, the acting, the characters, the production design-- so many things about TWW. Some of the soliloquies on democracy are unparalleled! But the whole neoliberal, white-male-supremacist-patriarchy-lite = 🤮 I don't rewatch it anymore, just a few scenes.
