Congressional Branch has the power of the purse. Trump and his Executive are stealing the purse. When Congress says give X dollars to Y the Exec doesn’t have the power to take that money. Steal it. Trump is stealing it and violating our Constitution. Nixon was the last prez to do this, I believe

Tried to do the math. If Congress can’t get the votes to block Trumps impoundments Trump could still impound anything he wants until December 12th starting today. Congress goes on Christmas Break December 18. Anything done more than 6 days from now would be impounded until at least January 3rd.

Not approve it. They have to block it. Block Trump from stealing the purse. With the recent Supreme Court rulings we may be in uncharted territory on how Trump is going to use impoundments? It’s not going to be traditional and it’ll go to the Supreme Court quickly.

USians kicked the can down the road by allowing the Republicans and Ford to negotiate Nixon’s resignation. Watergate was just the end of decades of Nixon terrorizing the Constitution. As VP and as Prez. Trump hasn’t even gone as far as Nixon yet. But it’s coming. We’re 8 months in.

Yes - I meant that the Impoundment Act requires Congress to approve ( or not) a rescission

Yes. With just a simple majority. Nixon Republicans set it up to be filibuster proof as well. It’s a simple up or down vote. No amendments, no long floor speeches. I don’t believe there is any way to stop Johnson and Thune from ramming through anything they want.
