Here's a question, possibly THE question. If Newsom was on the ticket as either presidential or vice presidential candidate in November of 2028, would you hold your nose and vote for him? One of the reasons Kamala lost was Gaza. She lost votes from Palestinian supporters.

Future Coalition PAC, later known as America PAC, (funded at least in part by Musk) aired campaign ads in Jewish communities depicting Kamala Harris as pro Palestinian and ads with the opposite stance depicting her as pro Israeli in Muslim communities. That's the tip of the iceberg.

All I have in response is another question. What defines a better candidate? If Glennon Doyle were to run and could win the primary I would vote for her. Also, if Gavin Newsom wins the primary, I will vote for him. If each of us has a hill that we will defend at all costs, there can be no unity.

There is no perfect candidate. All are prone to corruption, it comes down to individual ethics and strong family values

The Founding Fathers understood this. While they were almost violently opposed on some issues, they somehow managed to reach a consensus.

I remember talking to Palestinian supporters here on Bluesky last year about the danger of abandoning Kamala Harris. They were right in their support of Palestinians. Some of them replied that maybe Trump SHOULD be elected if Kamala didn't support their views. They were wrong about that.

I watched a Never Trumper get ostracized on Post.news because he didn't support Trans kids in sports. (Back when Post was fairly new.) Did we lose a vote? I don't know. Later, in a separate discussion, I had someone point out that Post was pretty much siloed. They were right.

I think that Glennon Doyle's "boats on a river" talk applies here. (She would probably scold me for saying that, as she firmly supports Trans kids in sports.) However, not everyone is suited for that boat. A February Pew Research article said that this issue has lost support.

Between 2022 and 2025, more people moved to being against Trans kids in sports. I don't pretend to know what the answer is. I do know that for fifty plus years right wing think tanks like the Heritage Foundation have been trying to divide the country. Internet algorithms have further divided us.

We seem to be doing a pretty good job of further dividing ourselves. We have lost the ability to walk a few steps in the other person's shoes. The word compromise is anathema to Democrats and Republicans alike. The Founding Fathers had heated debates, yet still managed to come together.

I believe that Trans people have all the rights expressed in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. Since transgender surgery wasn't available in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, the folks who wrote and amended the Constitution didn't explicitly say anything on the subject.

If d focuses on only ONE issue WE WILL LOSE… we should focus on how to move the majority FORWARD… d CANNOT HELP EVERYONE…HOW DO WE HELP THE MOST SUCCEED… there will always be some on either side of the bell curve left out… FOCUS ON THE MOST WE CAN HELP HUMAN RIGHTS FOR ALL
