The whooping cough vaccination rate for Washington state kindergartners in 2023-2024 was 90.2%, slightly below the U.S. rate of 92.3%. But in 4 counties, the rate for children ages 19-35 months was around 30%. In one county, it was below 12%.

So school aged kids have a 90% + vax rate. Younger kids have the much lower rates. Did you ever consider that INSURANCE and ACCESS might be a big driver for that? If you don’t have good insurance or access to well baby check ups, vaccines don’t happen.

That doesn't work though. Herd immunity protects the vulnerable among us. If people won't get vaccinated, they aren't the only ones who suffer. Children too young to be vaccinated, cancer patients on chemo, people with autoimmune disorders, and folk who got vaxed but didn't respond, will suffer too.
