“If we had an evacuation order, we certainly would have moved,” a father of nine who lives in Yancey County said. “I went to bed not worrying about it,” said a woman whose family has lived in the area for at least five generations. (Published May)

That's the thing. When you refuse to believe storms are changing, you're caught off guard when the storm is not like all the others. When you become enlightened to the fact that pretty much anything goes now, you'll be more prepared. You'll demand more for your government & science.
Nine? Not much to do in the area, I take it.
Somehow I doubt they would have followed the evacuation order if it had existed.
Trump better leave our weather service fully staffed and fund FEMA. Hurricane Season is upon us!
Too late, isn’t it? They already downsized and are prepared to do very little.. 🤷♀️
A failure in the provision of public information. Accountability. There's a "there" there where the buck better start stopping.
Ah yes, North Carolina, where residents chased out FEMA with rifles.
What has been proven over and over is that willful ignorance will kill. Believing that a 2,000 year old book has more knowledge than a peer reviewed science book written two years ago is willful ignorance. Faith is not fact and weather is a fact. Another fact is that climate change is real. #FAFO

But I will still vote for GOP next time even though they were responsible for firing the people who could have conveyed the evacuation order to us. I am stupid that way.
