It's "literally written in stone." Child mortality rates have drastically decreased since 1950, due to widespread vaccination programs. Before 1950, infectious diseases were major killers of children, but vaccines against diseases like polio, measles, & diphtheria significantly reduced these risks.

Whooping cough vaccination isn't just for kids - the immunity for it and tetanus wane over the years in adults, and you should get a Tdap booster every 10 years (or if you've just gotten a puncture wound and it's been >5 years.)

My niece is an idiot, and didn't vax any of her five kids. They all got whooping cough, and I didn't think the infant was going to make it. All deathly ill for a very long time. Who knows what long-lasting effects these kids will have? Selfish and stupid.
