I love working with veterans at the VA—it’s very unique and at its best a wonderful place. my attendings have warned me in this past year, though, that this is the first time they can remember a VA job being less secure than private industry and not worth the trouble. really sad

My wife served as a contract nurse in Glenwood Springs, CO, from Oct, 2019, until Mar 2020. COVID struck, she was quarantined for her last week of employment, but was never paid, even after two Congressional Inquiries. I’m a veteran. The VA sucks!!

This shortage at the VA is really concerning losing so many doctors and nurses affects care for those who’ve served. Hoping this sparks urgent action to support and rebuild the workforce.
Shut it down. The people SHOULD BE UPSET. Don’t let Americans stay complacent. We are a very rich country and demand services for our taxes (like all grown up countries).

Since Collins terminated the CBA last week & AFGE rolled over & ran away like cowards, VA employees now have no protection against arbitrary firing or reductions in wages/benefits. The largest barrier to privatizing the VA has been swept away. It WILL happen, in part or in whole within, 3 years.
