One doctor’s recommendation to deny a 43-year-woman coverage “contained errors on practically every aspect” of her condition, the Labor Department said in 2012. United and other insurers continued to hire the doctor over the next decade. (Published Dec. 2024)

It's time for Medicare for all. No age limit. Premiums, spend downs, in-network, out-of-network, are all code words for CEO and Wall Street profits. Health Careless....

They hire them specifically to deny coverage. They don’t care about “errors.”

What, rich business owners avoid paying out for things like they avoid paying tax? I'm shocked!

More than once, I have had to ask for corrections to my medical bills after the dreaded "entered incorrect code" errors at the providers office. This determines the amount covered by insurance.

I have over 2 decades worth of outrageous medical mistakes by caregivers. Just in the last 10 months I've got some absolutely wild instances of abject failures of pediatric neurologists. Absolute fucking miracles me & my child are still alive.

United Health Care use to be a great Heath Care Insurance company. They have gone downhill. Now more than ever we need single payer health care.

My mom was in an accident that crushed 4 thoracic vertebrae. Her life as she knew it was over. She had to quit her job of 21 yrs that she loved. She applied for disability; 2 MRI's showed the horrific damage, she became house bound. The corrupt disability system denied her for 23 mos costing her $26K.

Doctors testimony would be public information in a lot of these cases wouldn't it? Wonder how easy it would be to build a database so you could check to see if a doctor used in your case was one who'd been found incompetent... Turn mass data around a bit.

Likely they kept him on because he did their bidding, i.e., refusing care, refuting a diagnosis, etc. This is the kind of shit that got Brian Thompson killed. I'm not saying that was right but it is understandable given these insurance companies are a bunch of crooks. KARMA.

Glad things worked out for Emily. The insurance doctors only review records the requesting doctor sends and they follow a cookbook. Literally the whole thing could be done by AI and the doctor is only there as an authority figure. It’s a stupid system we should ban but instead Trump is expanding it.
