That the Trump regime still controls the remnants of USIP is a damning indictment of our government and our courts. What happened at USIP was plainly illegal, yet it stands. Our courts were no help and the damage is done. Little remains of the USIP.

Of what use are courts that move too slowly to uphold the law? The Trump regime knows that they can simply move faster than courts that might stop them. By the time a ruling is made, it’s too late.

And independent agency or not, USIP was created by Congress and thus the president should not be able to unilaterally dismantle it. But our courts, especially the Supreme Court, are just letting Trump do it to USIP, USAID, and others. Our courts are broken enablers of Trump.

I'm building an aggregator website, to bring together the issues and all of the ways people can help: democracy.diy For the "attend a peaceful demonstration" action, I search over 800 events. There are lots of useful things on the site--despite the minimalism.

Thank you. I'm hoping to add more local and state actions--as well as local groups that people might not know about, but would want to support. My thinking is that local issues will become increasingly important as the federal government becomes less and less responsive.

Also, do you have advice on activism through letter writing? Letter-writing events sometimes come up on the democracy.diy events page, but I'm wondering if there are some good organizations that I should be linking to?

I don’t know of any organizations, but I love using the Resistbot app, because it’ll fetch the right names and addresses of your politicians and put whatever you text to it in a letter format. It’s free in the App Store, but here’s their website if you want more info: resist.bot.

My general advice for letter writing is to choose one issue per letter and clearly state if you’re for or against a policy or proposed law. The staffers skim letters and tend to miss anything beyond a single point. Use a personal story to support your stance if you can.

Keep in mind that the letters are screened by staffers. They’ll likely trash anything they think is spam, disingenuous, or profane, so don’t resend letters, copy someone else’s message, rely solely on slogans, or use curse words or excessive insults — and always proof-read before you hit send.

We need a database with all of the known ICE agents and collaborators operating with masks. The public has a right to know who is receiving public funding to cause chaos and commit crimes.
