The New Deal & desegregation were only ever for the sake of not looking as bad relative to the Soviets. Once the Soviets were gone, the intention was always to roll all of it back. The entire farce of the USA's rigged sham „democracy“ is clearly being dispensed w/too potentially for similar reasons.

You’re thinking of South Carolina, actually; but yes—still legal racism. As it is in all other southern states as well as other states, where white flight academies also exist.
