It kills us then preserves us. Seems fair.
🤣🤣
😱😂
the human body makes ~50 ml of formaldehyde every day. If it didn't, you'd die.
Why do I think RFK Jr. is going make this situation worse.
Well, that’s terrifying. All those areas in NYC that are high risk. Uh oh, my zip code is worse. I’m never leaving my house again.
Google this: “What common household paper products have been made with formaldehyde?”
I’ll pass. I already Google way too much health related stuff. Damn it. Now I want to Google that question.
Scrolling through Bluesky and seeing one horrible thing after another and of course to top it off I had to look up my address and find out I live in an area with a high secondary source formaldehyde. JFC. Is there anything good happening ANYWHERE?
I don't know where it's coming from, because I'm in the middle of nowhere, but YIKES
Every address I looked up had that same number, in 3 different states, so 🤷♂️
Shittt mine was 1 in 42,000! (I live right on the side of a freeway exit, I already know I'm doomed) 😩😩
Ooh, I didn't even think about that, just assumed I was far enough away that it wouldn't be an issue. But I can hear it at night. I bet it's also contributing some; we don't have THAT many oak, poplar, or willow trees
Secondary formaldehyde formation is the most likely culprit. e.g., I'm downwind of a freeway + normal street traffic adds to nitrogen oxide in the local air. Under certain circumstances, this interacts with isoprene, released by some trees, to form formaldehyde. biologyinsights.com/why-do-trees...
Oh shit seriously
It is needlessly put in most items in your home and that your home is built from. Its carcenogenicity is well-known in Public Health circles!! Capitalism, USA-style is killing us, literally!! The Planet too!!
This is a useful data tool. Thanks!
