all traffic fines/towing fines etc should be on a sliding scale. It irks me that someone making $500,000 pays the same fine as someone making $25,000. It just feeds into the privileged class not ever having to pay what everyone else pays for their transgressions (see: donald trump).

I've lived in 13 different cities. Of all of them, New Haven had the most aggressive towing!

A few more committees and some more investigations, and they will get right to the bottom of this.

Alaska needs oversight too. I was in a total loss collision December 2023 and the tow company could not make it to my house due to winter road conditions so agreed to store my vehicle in their lot. The insurance adjuster hired a 2nd tow company to tow my vehicle to an auction yard in 45 mi away.

The auction yard would not release my vehicle back to me without the approval of the insurance adjuster. Then all of the collision repair shops would not provide quotes to me without referring to the insurance adjuster's estimate. I could not get an independent inspection and quote.

The insurance adjuster undervalued my vehicle. There are no consumer protections in Alaska. There are no consumer attorneys to assist with property theft by the insurance company. The tow yard was not held accountable for releasing my vehicle to the insurance adjuster and the 2nd tow company.

A story I read a few years back really sticks with me. In Albuquerque a guy got arrested for breaking into a car parts store. His truck needed a part so he could get to work so he could pay for the hotel his family was living in. People work hard and should be able to make a living. Damn.

Damn is right. We have homeless people who have jobs in the wealthiest country in the world. People who are one tiny emergency away from losing their homes. WTF

And still our tax dollars are being spent to hire a bunch of thugs and goons to commit crimes against Americans. I'd much rather give food and shelter to our citizens, but I'm not a Republican.

I am SO happy to see this. I've become more and more an advocate to end "POVERTY TOWS." There is some twisted logic that people without the means to pay for things like parking tickets and tolls, would somehow be able to pay for towing and impound. State and municipal govts need to change..

how they approach things, with the knowledge of how many people are working poor, or barely hanging in there. People are living in their cars because they can't afford Wall Streets incursion into the rental market, are barely making it. Impounding a car can cost $1,000s push people into homelessness
