It is not "old guard" vs "new". Bernie Sanders is much, much older than JD Vance. Until we start putting the ideas espoused ahead of chronology we will be stuck with just another "ism". This time ageism. Can we not discuss ideas and effectiveness over any immutable attribute such as age/sex/color.
By ‘old guard’ I didn’t necessarily mean age, it was more about mindset and message. The old guard courts billionaires and is afraid to rock the boat when it comes to meeting the needs of working class Americans

Thank you for clarifying. I would ask you to consider a change of words in the future in view of the way Joe Biden's age was used as a weapon, but Trump's was not. Also, it is misleading as it implies that authoritarian ideas will simply die off, while we know they will simply be reborn in anew.
