Sure people will find other means to harm others. That does not mean we should not make the ownership of this means of harm as difficult as possible to use on other people.

The UK has a ban on guns, criminals then started using knives. So the UK, to my knowledge, has limited the quality of kitchen knives. There is a balance. And using the way you said it leads to a backslide in quality of anything that can be a weapon...which is everything.

I agree humans will always make & keep weapons. But not all weapons are created equal and one can do much more damage more rapidly with an AR - whatever, than one can do with a knife. Students/citizens in Australia and France have fought off knife wielding assailants with backpacks. Can't with guns.

I can do as much harm with a hand gun as an AR-15 as both are, unless modified, Semi-Automatic firearms. AR, to be clear, means Armalite Rifle and not assault rifle. Yes the 5.56 round is nasty...but a .45 ACP Hollow Point can cause equally traumatic wounds.

The AR-15 has a mythos that is being used and blown out of proportion to what it actually is. And any regulation needs to be done with out emotion. Because when you regulate by feels, you make things worse. That is what I am saying.

Now I am for rational limits. I am for a license system more like the DMV where you need training, testing, buy in to get the tool. And if you want a more powerful tool, you need a better license and more training. But an outright ban will just lead to home made arms as this is america and yeah...

I bought a kitchen knife recently, there is no issue with quality, but I had to collect it from customer services after I'd paid for it with my other shopping. They are also hot about not letting young people buy such knives - as it's mostly an issue with teens & bravado.
