Ok. I accept your criticism of my post. I will try to clarify. There are no unified shepherds on the political left, armed with both sheep dogs who will bark, bump and nip but do no real harm, but also guns to keep the sheep in line as there are on the right.
Human motivations remain. That’s what we need to address. What does not move us forward, is often just a waste of time. Fun, maybe. But it doesn’t improve the society we live in.

Yes. Its herding cats as everybody believes they are their own “thing.” Unstructured & autonomous. Social movements to be successful need to be structured, like it or not. The 60’s movements are an object lesson. I never said “they are all the same.” Unstructured ppl THINK they are doing something.
There in lies the problem. If a movement is too structured it can descend into totalitarianism. If a group is too loose, it's power can be diluted. The far right in this country has been successful in convincing a significant number of people that the left is doing what the right is succeding at.
Your conclusion is the same as mine in the convincing. We are in the same place as far as technique. Fringie Far left is made up of spoiled children who think they can change things by dragging their feet. Too often the type who vote for token or duplicitous candidates like Jill Stein or Nader.
In example: The generation of the 60’s were idealistic, but mostly self-indulgent who became “Reagan Democrats” at the drop of a hat for the promise of a no fault “Me” generation. Basically the ‘guys’ who joined the left to date liberal chicks. People aren’t what they pretend.
