If you then read the WHO Joint study report 2021, and the paper below, you'll see that there were mammalian CoV hosts in the wildlife trade in the Huanan Seafood Mrkt, Wuhan, just prior to the outbreak, & that the first cases trace back to that market. www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...
This was summed up in our 2022 paper in PNAS which has a breakdown of the natural vs. lab origin based on all available evidence at the time (supplementary info). The evidence pointing to a wildlife trade origin was strong then, and has only become stronger since then. www.pnas.org/doi/10.1073/...
