That is true, but how about just putting the $5K into an education fund? I think that's what I would do ...
My own experience. One medicine cost $7,000 per month for years which was far more than the current salary. $5,000 would have been useless.
... but yeah, you're right ... medical costs for a sick child, can wipe out $5K ...
In a case like that, yes ... I can't imagine being in that kind of scenario ... even in Canada, not everything is covered, eh ...
The doctor did work out some sort of deal with the manufacturer when we couldn’t afford it so my child basically had guinea pig status but other associated expenses did cause us to lose house we had been buying. It took years to recover financially.
