I've gotten scold responses quite a bit. Yes, a lot of horrible shit is happening. I'm scared and trying to do what I can to help. But we can't spend every second wallowing in despair or being angry. We still need to take time to enjoy and celebrate art and entertainment. For creators and ourselves.

It's particularly weird to scold people who aren't doing anything wrong, ffs. I get wanting to scold people who are doing harmful things, like spreading misinformation or doomerism (or both), but I'm kind of suspicious of people who just scold at the drop of a hat for no readily apparent reason.

I do think it can be a form of trolling, people acting in bad faith just to stir up trouble. But sometimes it is people who are so fired up emotionally that they just need to lash out, even if it's at the wrong targets sometimes.

As the original poster said, no one knows what people here are doing in real life.

Yo! GRP! @garyrp.bsky.social

If you use that image as a response to the scolder and they block you, so much the better. One less in my mentions. Of course they have one less person to scold but c'est la vie.
