They did the false elector slates thing last time though they just got stopped.
They did the false elector slates thing last time though they just got stopped.
how are you imagining this playing out lol
Literally how it almost did in 2016 but Vance say the false electors will be counted?
2020 not 2016 obvi
Like yeah I'm being simplistic but it's not like this wasn't a plan they already tried
1: we have the midterms before then 2: its congress that certifies both its own election and the electoral college for the presidential election 3: this is a civil war button
The only way this succeeds is if the GOP retains a majority in both chambers of congress and in that case we are fucked in a couple dozen other more pressing ways
1. Midterms that can be disrupted by intimidation and military prersence. 2. Led by the sitting VP no? 3. Yeah man that's where this is headed
1: no they really cant. America is big. Very big. They do not have enough troops (refusing to seat congress, however, is a more realistic concern) 2: only for presidential elections and that would still require a GOP majority to actually push through 3: then the election results arent a worry
1. Okay then they go with your idea Like I'm just of the mindset that relying on laws and norms has been pretty much folly this admin so expecting norms and laws to stop them is at best plan A but we better have a plan BCDetc
You can worry yourself sick about a billion hypotheticals. Most of them are extremely unrealistic. The rest cannot be handled by you alone. If you really need something to put your mind at ease, form connections in your community while doing GOTV
I think not getting caught flat footed is also important but your advice is sound

i was being nice, donβt patronize me
I really wasn't trying to. Sorry
my point isnβt that a coup is illegal, it obviously is, itβs that thereβs no mechanism for a president to not count absentee votes. state republicans can violate their state constitutions and send in false slates, but thatβs not the same thing. thereβs no federal tool for banning mail voting
That wasn't super clear to me when I read your initial skeet. I wasn't thinking in terms of legally mandated mechanisms as much as "Will they try to do things to get around the system as it is in place"
i mean not to be rude but itβs very much what is said in the quoted skeet lol
Then I'm stupid sorry
