They got expensive because they’re having a bit of a resurgence lately! Worth it if you have some disposable income though. It feels humbling to use a device that just does one thing, no internet, firmware not even 1MB in size. 64MB RAM was considered a lot for an iPod!

Yeah some dingus in Australia started making iPods valuable again, which then increased replacement part prices. It's calming to me to use that old kinda tech, I can just exist and enjoy without distractions, I can just vibe.

my only issue is the modded ipod classic i want doesn’t come with apple bluetooth so no magically moving my airpods to it when i hit play. ☹️

With the Netflix password crackdown if your router can host as a vpn server with Wireguard or open vpn you could send vpn client configuration files to whomever you want to share the password with and they install Wireguard app or open VPN app and vpn to your home. Then their devices are….

essentially part of your network via the vpn connection and Netflix is none the wiser.

Sounds like work that I'll have to give to my non technical family that lives in a other country, no thanks. I rather do work myself as a technical person. Besides my setup paid for itself multiple times over thanks to the savings made by not paying for Netflix.

I get the non technical family part. I let a family member(s) vpn to my network (live in different states) and because i vpn to Albania to get ad free YouTube her device also gets ad free YT because of the vpn tunnel to my network. Works really well but i had to do all the set up for them.
