Agreed. The trick for me is finding a way to point out the barrage of inaccuracies & lies without giving the other person the escape hatch to immediately dismiss me. It’s a battle I’m unlikely to ever win, but I don’t know how to not try. And since they seem to love stupid catchphrases… 🤷🏻♂️
You have more patience than me I think. The most success I have had in getting through to people is to ask questions that force them to think about their answer. That backfires sometimes and makes them angrier though because apparently I'm "tricking" them when I do that so ... 🤷♂️
I get that. The MAGA movement has done a thorough job of tapping into existing frustrations, preying upon the uneducated, and conditioning followers in how resist anything that counters the narrative, no matter how irrational the response may be. I just can’t stop trying. I wish I could.
The effort is worth it if you can convince even a single person to shift their thinking. Dropping a pebble in a lake sends ripples that can reach far, and even if you don't think you have much effect, a single conversation can shift a person's perspective over time. 🙂
