We do other exercises as well. Eg. The navigator will have the screen set to Radar only and they will have a jacket over them so all they can see is the radar - and they have to call course corrections to the helm to take the boat round the marina and out to the open sea.

Our unit is one of the busiest in NZ. We train over winter (while there are less boats out on the Hauraki Gulf) so that in summer we can operate as professionals (volunteers yes - but professional in the level of skill and effort applied)
