Which states.
Which states.
It doesn't list Ohio but that was the message I got when I tried to schedule an appointment earlier today.
Things have been changing all day — you may get a different result if you try now. I tested all 50 states myself this evening and they matched the list CVS confirmed. But if you try again and still get that message, send me a screenshot please?
Still won't this morning FYI. I'm in NE Ohio so guess they're just not stocking here yet. I tried a few areas within about 20 mins of me.
I made an appt yesterday at a CVS here in SW Ohio - but it's for Sept 8th, and for the Covid booster. No problem, but I'm over 65.
Ugh, this is so weird and frustrating, I'm sorry! I'm able to find appointments by plugging in zip codes in and around several major cities in Ohio, so it's definitely not one of the forbidden states, but it's very possible that supply is an issue. Seeing what I can find out.
I'm guessing a supply issue mostly. I was able to schedule in SW Ohio
Now I get this message when it goes to geographic location. Tried it twice. I'll check back in the morning.
It's letting me schedule today.
Ah, that's odd! I didn't get that particular message for any state when I did my tests (the message for the states where it's unavailable was different). I wonder if that might be their site being overloaded? Please do keep me posted, though — if this is a consistent thing, I want to look into it.
Both Walgreens & CVS were scheduling for 9/4 or after in Cincinnati when I looked this evening. (I do wonder if they are booking a week out because visits are in fact “popular” in my area or because they are estimating that is when they will receive a shipment to have vaccine in stock.)
Almost certainly the latter, I had just checked yesterday and it said they were still waiting for approval, so there's no way they filled up that fast.
I have it scheduled with CVS for next week. But I’m 65 so maybe that’s why. Go in person and tell them you are high risk.
In Ohio?
Yes
I scheduled for next week in Ohio via the cvs app.
I booked mine at CVS in Washington State yesterday. Why the difference across states?
The article explains. Different states have different laws about the situations in which pharmacists are allowed to administer shots.
Normally this ACIP meeting/approval vote happens in June (or one day after FDA approval if that’s delayed). Now they’re saying it might happen in a few weeks. Or, y’know, maybe not. Ever.
Went to a pharmacy (not CVS) in CO today and it was available. It's the old shot though. They said the new one should be available in a week or two. But added that the new guidelines will probably apply by then. 🙃
I have an appointment in a couple of weeks for the new vaccine. No problem getting it - but then, I'm over 65.
...and in Ohio.
That's a weird assortment of states.
Shocked Texas and Florida aren’t on this list.
Florida is.
Welp, my 78yo mom lives in one of those states. We may need to get her an appointment in California when she visits for Thanksgiving, if it's not too late by then.
I'm in CA and I can't find the vaccine anywhere. Tried Costco, CVS, Safeway, Target, Walgreen's, etc. Sent a message to my Dr asking if I could come in to get vaxxed, and they said go to a pharmacy. Hoping you can find availability in November! 🤞
My CVS here in CA is scheduling appointments starting from September 9th.
Good to know. Thanks!
I just checked again and they’ve moved it up to the 4th!!
I think the updated Moderna/Pfizer/Novavax just got approved this week, so it might take a couple weeks to become available at pharmacies. I'll check around mid-Sept to see if they've got it.
