Educating, showing every human being a wide panoramic view (no dogma or taming) is a giant investment. Selling and buying degrees and qualifications is a "natural" disaster provoked by the "intelligent, conscient, transcendent" species

The us is first in terms of scientific influence
I think the Trump inspired brain drain will make a lot of foreign scientists move elsehwere
They had us doing times tables and cursive in second grade in germany. When i moved to the states we didnt begin to cover either till fifth grade. And they wondered why i checked out. This was in the 70s and 80s. I cant imagine its gotten any better since then, here.
Pretty sure we were learning cursive and times tables by third grade in my school in the mid 60's.
When they pulled down a map of america in front of the blackboard, it was just america. No Canada sitting on our head, no russia giving our left ear eskimo kisses. Just america in a sea of blue. None of the kids grew up with any idea of how we are connected to everyone else. They grew up believing
In american exceptionalism while we slowly outsourced all our manufacturing, tech, and biopharm jobs to pretty much everyone else, gutted our education system and shived corn syrup down our throats like they were fattening us for market day. Yes maybe they did teach times tables in the third grade
In the 1960s. They also taught how to identify all the trees and plants that grow around us. Now youll be lucky if they can list all 151 original starting pokemon. We have systematically set ourselves up for the massive brain drain we are currently experiencing where anyone worth anything escapes
To another country offering more education and a better salary and even a better education since we got rid of vast swaths of stem scholarships. We are still in the fuck around phase of systematic intellectual atrophy. But we fixin’ ta fin’ out!
The sixties were a looooong ass time ago and we’ve been circling the drain ever since
In reality, Germany only started offering free education in the 1970's. Einstein, Planck, Heisenberg, and all the rest were educated because they were middle class and bourgeois. Einstein's father was a capitalist who made electrical equipment. Planck's father was a lawyer, his uncle was a judge.
Heisenberg's father was a university professor. It's not that universal free education is a bad idea. It's not, it's a great idea. But lying about its history isn't a legitimate method for making the point.
