I think everybody thought that
I think everybody thought that
You are not.
No
The 80s weren't ready for goth girls.
Got to intro her to the parents one day.
Absolutely.
I concur
I think everyone did.
Ally Sheedy? Wut?
For sure. Of course, I think the "surly goth" look is center-of-the-sun hot but that might be just me.
No you are not Alone
Definitely 💯
Same
eyes like hers, should never be obscured by hair, its a crime against aesthetics.
That being said, the rest of her makeover ensemble is entirely negotiable...
She looked basic as fuck after that makeover.
🙋♂️
Stepfordization.
Right Side - 1980s Artist type 1 - Dancer, Musician, Poet, Julliard Student Left Side - 1980s Artist type 2 - Painter, Graphic Artist, Sculptor, Pratt Student this is an inside guy thing from back in those days.
She looks generic now. Almost AI
Nope
Yep.
Agreed
Me! She looked much cuter before.
I did. The "before" reminded me of myself--I was a Goth in late high school/college.
You are not alone, friend
Makeover Ally is what #conservatives consider hot, it's not.
Wasn't that the point?
I said she looked better *before*.
Not the best explanation but close enough.... www.houstonpress.com/arts/the-bre...
This is so true. It just never was about makeup. That was just the conduit through which two people felt close for a moment.
That's what I mean. Who did that makeover? Does the after really reflect her personality or someone else?
No you’re not the only one
Nope. I loved her emo-goth look. I refer to her makeover as The Stepford Student. 😑
Me too. And more interesting.
Nope. Ally was so good looking as grunge girl.
Great movie
Same
No
Cool woman at a bookstore drinking a coffee into “look what I did with the Christmas ribbon mommy!”
Women in these films always look better ugly/plain/awkward than made over. I have always found the gimmick silly.
I totally fell for her in Breakfast Club!! I've had a crush on her for years!
Most Definitely.
Like, everybody
Nope.
That was the point.
Except for the artistic dandruff, I agree.
I did too.
I just realized the Breakfast Club look is me on a windy day. 😂
2nd!
I thought I was the only one
No you are correct
Ally was beautiful before and after, but I would agree with you.
No, that’s sorta the point of the entire movie.
Ally Sheedy is currently a professor in the theater department at the City College of New York
Then they are very lucky, but in my mind the City has always been blessed.
You are so not alone.
Naw, she was the bomb when she was being herself.
Nope, not the only one. She had more character and showed her personality before the makeover. After she was a clone of Claire.
Crazy to think that having bangs in your face and baggy clothes meant you were a rebel. How we were restrained then.
In high school (yes, just after it debuted) we had to write a paper in sociology about the best character in the film. I'm the only one who chose Sheedy, and as others have said, turning her from an individual into an unthinking robot ruined the film.
Nope. I agree.
You are not.
No we all think this
The makeover ruined her.
Loved her in this movie that seems relevant again
nope
Minus the dandruff, yes
🤣
You are not alone
What do you mean? All she did was change everything about herself to be more acceptable to a man who never even knew she was alive when she was being her genuine self. What's wrong with that?
You may be slightly over reading the meaning of an 80s teen flick
i thought she was beautiful the way she was. It is in the eye of the beholder
Bigger issue...why did she "need" a make over???
Yes.
No, you are not.
100%
They took her unique style and turned her into a clone. Sadly, somewhat appropriate for high school.
If you ever have the opportunity to wield such a thing as that in the manner of a sword, DO THAT! I'd say she did it quite well.
C O N F O R M !
“Hey, I like that black sh**” (after Ringwold criticizes her black eyeliner). We like it too!
I’m guessing you’re the only one ever thought about this. Never mind always.
I always liked her, no matter what. Great actress, pretty lady.
Didn’t think this would blow up so much but then again, Ally Sheedy is a goddess so I shouldn’t be surprised. To clarify: She ALWAYS looks amazing, I just thought she looked even MORE amazing in goth mode than “cleaned-up” mode.
Hard agree!
It's the weakest part of the entire movie.
It's like they stretched her face, longwise.
Absolutely correct.
It does kind of send the wrong message doesn't it? Conforming to someone else's beauty standard in order to be made acceptable to them.
No.
Definitely before
always thought this
Their?
In the nosey!
You’re not alone.
💯
Or that Michelle Monaghan is more attractive than Giselle?
No, many people including myself share that opinion.
Pre-makeover Ally is the best Ally
Ally fell in love with a robot.
👍YESS it was her particular style!
63 today. The most charismatic girl on the 1970s Upper West Side.
Hands down!
Left image: Her owning her look with zero apology. Right image: Her uncomfortable trying on someone else’s identity that she doesn’t find genuinely her own.
No
Totally!
💯
No. My husband will randomly bring this up about twice a month.
Ally Sheedy is a god. Stop talking.
Agree.
Oh yes!!!!
Duh.
No!
I'm with you.
No, every lesbian agrees
Yes! 👏🏽
👍
Ally Sheedy looked/looks great every picture that’s ever been taken of her.
I am so with ya.
Yes
That was the point of the makeover
I LOVE THAT MOVIE!
Nope, you are not alone
Day it five times in the theater when it came out, 100% because Allison Reynolds was hot AF pre makeover (and very cute after, but before???)
Bad actress
Dude that was 40 years ago
Agree
Great movie, love watching it when I'm feeling nostalgic, your right too!
Did they treat her dandruff? That was the deal breaker for me.
No, you are not. That was one of the worst glowdowns in cinema.
Absolutely! Goth forever!
Nope. I agree with you completely.
No - I hated that makeover. She looked much more my type before.
Agreed.
Yeah, and Tommy Lee Jones looked better in "The Fugitive" than he did in the Ty Cobb bio..."Cobb". 😜
OF COURSE!
Much.
Nope
It's hard to say with the hair. I look better with a bag over my head.
"Great night out" vs. "Join us in South America with Jim Jones the modern day Jesus"
I liked her more before the makeover tbh
It’s the classic glow down.
Nope. I totally agree!
Way better
