Wait’ll 24 million Americans get their ACA exchange renewal notices from their insurance carriers in October.
Wait’ll 24 million Americans get their ACA exchange renewal notices from their insurance carriers in October.
Honestly I'm scared for it. My health insurance is so insanely expensive already.
How they could have ever been so high to begin with is the failure of a lifetime of this country
The PA exchange already didn’t mince words. They said next year it’s up 82%. No insurance for me!
Can you provide a screenshot/link to the notice you received? As far as I know Pennsylvania hasn't published their rate filings yet (I check daily). Or is this more of an "expected/on average" sort of warning?
Yes, the notice is not specific to me. They’ll let me know details during the November enrollment. I’m just assuming the worst.
Oh wait...are you talking about this? Yeah, I'd have to take a closer look at their methodology but that sounds about right for the statewide average. www.pa.gov/agencies/ins...
Here in NJ, CVS Aetna is canceling coverage for everyone effective December 31. It’s nationwide. I’ll have to pick another provider and I liked Aetna. I hate this country.
Who says young people aren't that sharp? Trump...
I kind of forgive the young, all they've had to look at is bullshit, and trump is 1 big lump of shit. Now the older ones that's another story.
Good time to NOTE: INSURANCE companies inflate care prices (so we 'need' their 'products') then use contracts w/providers to block us from paying direct. AXE CARTELS, get real pricing. Helps VA, Medi, ALL #PublicOption $30K or $3K for hernia surgery? www.cbsnews.com/news/man-dri...
Last week I bought an item for $3.99 and today, it costed $4.29. USA auto manufacturers have absorbed some of the cost of the taxes (oops tariffs) imposed on Canadian and Mexican auto parts. How long until they have to raise prices before their stock prices crash?
My medicare supplement increases on August 1st 5 months before renewal
Spot the generation of voters that grew up with leaded petrol.
Got my notice of Covered California (ACA) of my premium increase next year. I can afford it, but what makes me smile is all the people that voted for Trump will lose all their healthcare coverage, welfare, food stamps and housing subs. Sorry. I FEEL NOTHING for these people that voted for him.
You already received it? CA hasn’t even published preliminary rate filings yet.
I got mailed (and email) notices last week that my coverage will 'change' for 2026. It wasn't specific.
Yeah, most of the carriers have been sending out early warning notices just to give enrollees a general heads up. The actual notices with more specifics about their plan/premium changes will come out in October.
Too little too late. We all heard trump say the same things but those idiots still voted for him thinking he'd only hurt everyone else.
It’s devastating.
With huge reduction in the federal workforce and elimination of thousands of federally subsidized programs across the board, it's only a matter of time before the job/income shrinkage shows up. And as of today, we can expect consumer prices to rise so there'll be a double whammy in 30-60d.
I’m one of the lucky ones who will see an increase in my premium! May have to go without insurance again, yay me.
Oh, I got mine today.
Really? The rates won’t even be official until mid-September. Unless they’re pulling out of the market in your area entirely?
Ah, ok, that's a generic "heads up!" notice which a lot of carriers have been (wisely) sending to enrollees. I'm talking about the actual renewal notices for your specific plan with your specific premium hikes. Those will be sent out in late September/early October, I believe.
I heard insurers offering Medicaid managed care plans are pulling out because of the cost to administer the work requirement paperwork.

This will dovetail nicely with turning the White House into Versailles on steroids.

Examples out of Arkansas: acasignups.net/ira-subsidy-...
In Texas, the under 35 age group are most impacted and least likely to vote. Maybe if we offer free HC to voters, people would show up. I swear to god I can't figure out how to get them off their phones for the 10 min it takes to cast a ballot.
Hmmm. Weren't the Republicans congratulating themselves on pushing implementation of the changes to Medicaid & SNAP & so forth till *after* the Midterms? Why, it's as if health care delivery is a far more complex & interconnected system than their political calculations had realized . . .
Employer Sponsored Insurance is going to jump as well. Actuaries can see how bad it is to cut millions of people off of their health insurance.
Hospitals can't turn people away, somebody is going to be absorbing the costs of emergency room visits.
Hospital Emergency Departments can’t treat chronic conditions. They can give patients initial treatments and prescriptions, but there wouldn’t be any follow up.
I agree. When I was 21, I was in a bad accident with no insurance. The hospital submitted the bill to what I assume to have been Medicaid, they paid it. Who's going to absorb bills where the patient can't afford to pay?
I know NJ has Charity Care, but there’s a strict financial criteria to get that. You have to spend down assets to a certain level before they will pay. NJ is considering appealing to SCOTUS to get out providing it though.
We’ve already been getting warnings it will go up here in California.
It’s going to be brutal. The letter was basically like “we are so sorry your life is screwed”.
American exceptionalism.
Exceptional is such a vague term.... You can be exceptionally good or...... :)
In Kentucky, Caresource has already sent letters stating they’re exiting the Marketplace. I have no doubt I won’t be able to afford insurance one year before I qualify for Medicare.
Thanks for the heads up. CareSource held 29% of the Kentucky ACA market last year. Not sure what it is this year but that’s a significant chunk. acasignups.net/24/09/20/ken...
Am I reading this wrong or does it look like they’re not going up significantly like the rest of the country?
That's from a year ago. I don't have the 2026 filings for Kentucky yet.
The top 1%
People 45+(of which I am one) are largely just fucking stupid. Newsflash— we’re never going to be rich because of the GOP and definitely not because of Cotton Candy Head. Have you not seen him & this party in action your entire fucking lives???
We had a pretty big discount thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act. I’m thinking it will go up $600 a month.
People voted against their own healthcare. Harris would not be adding a 90,000sq foot ballroom into the White House, she’d be taking care of our insurance
My local PA state rep has been posting on FB that “Pennie” plans will be going up.
Just seeing the letters going out and people posting them now - 82% increase in Pennie plans.
Wow. The cruelty is bottomless.
I got a notice of hearing for my Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance a month ago that they want to raise my rates by 28% when I re-up. I’m thinking about just getting a catastrophic policy cause I’m already paying $800 a month.
When I suggested this to my insurance broker, he said “ what you have IS a catastrophic policy.” I agree. Without the tax credits we’re looking at $900 or more a month with a $7700 deductible.
It will be a catastrophic policy with a catastrophic premium.
Ours is going from $7200 a yr to $30,000 per my agent
Same. We might actually be uninsured for the first time in our lives. In our 50s, when we really need it.
We are in our 60’s!!! $30,000 a yr for insurance that’s what we make
It’s terrible. Hideous.
Looks like it is time to make another batch of Kool-Aid for the 45+ crowd.
Get this. The day that bill was signed I received a letter stating my premium was going up 12.6%. They knew. They paid for this bill. And now we get to pay for it. 😡
Only 12.6%? You’ll be one of the lucky ones.
I'm sure it'll go up. I live in Iowa. 🙄
Seems like the old coots don’t care!
