So if we DO end up with a President Vance in the near future, is that better or worse overall? On the one hand he’s younger, healthier, smarter & a true believer. On the other hand he doesn’t hold MAGA in the palm of his hand.

He's got Peter Thiel and the technocrats. He doesn't need widespread MAGA support if the electoral process is no longer relevant. He'd be a hell of a chilling dictator--lies as often and more smoothly than Trump and seems to be just as self-centered.

I don't think he's a true believer. I don't think he believes much of anything. He was saying Trump was hitler back when that was his social circle. Now he says Peter Thiel-like things. I expect he'll eventually argue he only joined the Trump administration to restrain him

I hate to go against 'the devil you know,' but I think you're right. He's younger and healthier but he's got the charisma of a dial tone and he's frankly not a psychopath - net positives. Plus according to Washington monthly, he's the lowest rated VP at this point in a 1st term.

I think we’d get through a Vance presidency easier than a Trump one just because he’s never been in government before his short stint as governor and he’s a black hole where charisma disappears. But I’ve been wrong before. I guess it depends on if he brings in his own people or keeps trumps in place
