Honest question: Assuming OR is able to successfully tackle the various *state-level* hurdles, how do they propose to secure the necessary FEDERAL waivers needed in order to redirect federal Medicare, Medicaid & ACA funding into the single payer system given the GOP trifecta?

single payer plus I imagine. those on medicare, medicaid, and who get ACA funding would continue to get it, and single payer will fill in the gaps, everyone else would get the single payer. no money would be redirected. it is like countries with single payer that also have private insurance

there is zero chance Trump would let Oregon do anything that requires federal gov't buy in. it makes sense just piggybacking on the system as it exists. i am just not sure how they will get this past insurance companies unless it is a super amped ACA where they process claims.

I believe RI got some similar Federal waivers to basically make the city of Central Falls single-payer/single provider, since most residents were on Medicaid. Not sure of the details though -- and that was a different Administration. Dr. Michael Fine is our local mover-shaker on it.
